Jean-Paul Agon joined L’Oréal in 1978 after graduating from HEC international business school. He has worked his entire career at L’Oréal, where he successively led several of its brands, countries, and geographical zones. In his 28-year career within the Group before becoming CEO, Jean-Paul Agon spent more than half of that time outside of France in 3 countries (Greece from 1981 to 1986, Germany, USA) and dedicated about twenty years to developing international markets, notably the Asia-Pacific and the North America zones. He was appointed CEO of L’Oréal in 2006, and then Chairman and CEO from 2011 to May 2021. He is Chairman of the Board of L’Oréal since then. Jean-Paul Agon is Chairman of the Board of Directors of HEC Paris, Chairman of the France-Greece Business council of MEDEF International, co-Chairman of the France China Committee, a member of the European Round Table for Industry, a Director of the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri) and Chairman of the Society of Friends of the City of Paris Museum of Modern Art. He is a commander of the French Legion of Honor.
