Michel Vedrenne Gutiérrez is the Head of the Section of the Cyprus Settlement Support Unit in the European Commission in charge of environment and infrastructure projects. He joined the European Commission in 2019 and worked in designing and implementing projects on environmental monitoring, solid waste, telecommunications, and digitalisation. Previously, he worked for Ricardo Energy and Environment in the UK, assisting local and national administrations, in the design, implementation, and monitoring of environmental plans and programmes, focusing on air quality and carbon emissions. At this time, he was an independent expert appointed by the European Commission to examine evidence in the context of infringement procedures related to air pollution. He holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering and a PhD in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Madrid.
