Giorgos Voukanos
Composer
Giorgos Voukanos is an internationally recognized Greek composer, renowned for his
orchestral works and soundtracks in documentaries, television, and theatre. In 2025, he
premiered “Sor Juanna – The Tenth Muse” in Mexico with the Camerata Orchestra of UNAM,
and the same year a selection from his new opera Prometheus was broadcast on Chinese
television via JSBC (Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation). That year he also presented the
audiovisual spectacle “Caryatid: the Daughter of Athens” at the Athens Concert Hall, while
preparing major new compositions slated for 2026, including Areton Anotera – Eternal
Games – Terra Olympia (a musical trilogy celebrating the Olympic spirit), the musical Hope –
Elpida, Where the Clouds Are Born (settings of Lafcadio Hearn), Lord Byron Walks in Beauty
(CD release), Ashes in the Wind for Jaume Pont in Spain, and Johann Jakob Meyer – Flame
of Ink, Sound of Freedom (Switzerland – Athens).
Born in 1972 in Athens, Voukanos studied Monody, Piano, and Byzantine music, graduating
from the Athens Conservatory. His compositions have been aired on international television
networks including Fashion TV, ARD, ZDF, ARTE, RAI, RIK, JSBC, TV Lumière, Raj TV, and
ERT/ERTFLIX, and performed by prominent artists and orchestras worldwide
He has set to music poems by poets such as Maya Angelou, Fernando Pessoa, John Boyle
O’Reilly, Francesca Aeschlimann, Mary Boukanou, and Efi Panagopoulou.
His discography spans over 47 CDs and DVDs, covering orchestral, choral, lyrical,
ambient/new‑age, and folk‑inspired works. His creations have earned numerous accolades,
including the InterContinental Music Awards, Tourism Awards, Global Music Awards, LIT
Talent Awards, International Travel Awards, Attica Region Award, and the European I.C.E.

Voukanos has also served as founder and artistic director of key cultural festivals such as the
International Festival of Ancient Feia, the Festival of Art & Culture of Andravida–Kyllini, the
Festival of Ancient Elis, as well as the Melody Spirit Institute and the Xenios Festival – The
Host Festival
