Fanis Papathanasiou ERT TV, anchor, senior diplomatic correspondent Fanis Papathanasiou is an anchor and senior diplomatic correspondent at ERT (Greek Public Television), boasting over 25 years of experience in covering major diplomatic and international events. As a long-time correspondent based in New York and later in Athens, he has reported extensively from conflict zones, including Iraq during the 2003 war, where he was stationed in Baghdad, as well as from Israel, Lebanon and various regions in the Middle East. Throughout his career, Fanis has conducted exclusive one-on-one interviews with influential international figures, including Donald Trump, George W. Bush, Secretary Mike Pompeo, and Turkish leaders Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Ahmet Davutoğlu. His work has been featured on prominent global networks such as CGTN, CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera. Recently, as a representative of the Peace Lab at the School of Journalism, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he participated in a mission to Erbil, Kurdistan, in 2022, focused on enhancing journalist education in the Kurdish region of Iraq. During this mission, he engaged in collaborative meetings with local universities and government officials to foster mutual interests and promote effective journalism practices. Fanis holds an M.A. in Digital Media, Communication, and Journalism from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
