Stefanos Kollias is Emeritus Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. Since 2019 he has been Chairman of the Board of GRNET, the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology, under the Ministry of Digital Governance, strongly involved in Greek Digital Transformation activities, as well as in the creation and operation of the Daedalus supercomputer. Professor Kollias is Coordinator of the PHAROS AI Factory, one of the first seven (currently thirteen) AI Factories selected by the EuroHPC-JU across Europe. He has been member of the Executive Committee of the European Neural Network Society. He is member of the European Commission Expert Group on AI for Cultural Heritage and member of the Advisory Board of AI Catalyst in Greece.
He is an IEEE Fellow, having produced a world leading research activity in the field of machine learning, AI, human computer interaction and content technologies. He has published 300 papers in international journals and conferences, with about 15000 citations and an h-index of 58 in Google Scholar. He has supervised 50 Ph.D. students, the majority of who are currently academics in Greece, Europe and the US. He has led his group participation in 100 European R&D projects, with his group funding being over 20MEuro.
