Marco Alberti

Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Albania

Born in Bukavu (Zaire), May 25, 1972. University of Bologna: Degree in Law, July 16, 1996. In diplomacy since 2000, after a professional experience in the private sector, Marco Alberti began his career at the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Chief of Staff, dealing with Latin America, Multilateral Organizations and internationalization of SMEs. Subsequently, he served at the political office of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires (2003-2008), the Consulate General in New York (2008-2011) and the Communications Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2012), before being seconded as Head of International Affairs at Enel S.p.A., the largest European utility (2012-2021). In the company, he has taken care of, with increasing responsibilities, various aspects of economic diplomacy, support for the Group's business development worldwide, as well as relations with governments and multilateral bodies, gaining managerial experience in energy and environmental matters. Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from 2021 to 2024;From January 2025, Ambassador of Italy to Republic of Albania;Married with three children, he has been awarded the honor of Cavaliere OMRI in 2011. He collaborates with several Italian and foreign universities and is the author of numerous articles dedicated to the themes of economic and digital diplomacy, while in 2021 he published with Rubettino the volume "Open Diplomacy", dedicated to economic diplomacy and new paths of public-private collaboration.
