Dr Mauro Agosto is an Italian classical scholar. He is Professor of Classical Philology at the Pontifical Lateran University of Rome and a Fellow of Vivarium Novum two popes — John Paul and Benedict XVI — Academy, Frascati (Rome). as an official Latinist of the Vatican He served Synod of Bishops from 2000 to 2013. He published extensively on Greek and Latin philology including a comprehensive revision of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex (Moscow, 2016).
