Mr. John C. Lyras comes from a Greek seafaring family and company with a tradition in shipping that goes back four generations. He has been involved in ocean – going shipping for over 40 years. He is serving on the Boards of Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) European Community Shipowners’ Association (ECSA),  International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and has been President and Vice President of the first two organisations and Vice President of the third. He is a founder member and ex Board member of Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA).  He is also a founder member and Executive Committee member of the Malta International Shipowners Association.
