Aristeidis Samitas is Professor of Finance and Vice-Rector for Finance and Development at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He is also Director of the MSc Program in Financial Technology (FinTech) and Director of the Laboratory of Investment Decisions (EPEFA). His academic career spans more than two decades of teaching, research, and leadership in higher education. He studied Economics at the University of Athens and pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham, specializing in Monetary, Banking, and Finance. He holds a PhD from the University of Athens and conducted postdoctoral research at City, University of London. He has taught at leading universities in Greece and abroad, including Zayed University (United Arab Emirates), the University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Open University, the Open University of Cyprus, the University of Sheffield, and the University of Wales (Cardiff). His teaching covers a broad range of subjects, including Financial Analysis, Banking, International Finance, Entrepreneurship, Econometrics, and Financial Technology. His research interests focus on Financial Analysis, Financial Crises, Risk Management, Capital Markets, and the contribution of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to financial science. He has published extensively in leading international journals, including the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, European Journal of Operational Research, International Review of Financial Analysis, Economic Modelling, Research in International Business and Finance, Annals of Operations Research, Tourism Management Perspectives, and Telecommunications Policy. He has been invited as a speaker at major international conferences and universities, such as the Centre for European Policy Studies (Brussels), CESifo (Munich), Queensland University of Technology (Australia), and the FINTECH Symposium at ADNEC (Abu Dhabi), where he has presented innovative approaches to forecasting financial crises using machine learning techniques. He has also served as a reviewer for international academic journals such as Applied Economics, Economic Modelling, International Review of Economics and Finance, and the Journal of Policy Modeling, while actively participating in scientific committees and international research collaborations. He has also contributed to the translation and editing of leading academic textbooks, including Principles of Corporate Finance (Brealey, Myers & Allen), Investments (Bodie, Kane & Marcus), and Keith Pilbeam’s International Finance. His overall work combines theoretical depth with practical application, highlighting finance as a key tool for understanding, innovation, and resilience in the era of the digital economy.
