I am Professor of Statistics in the Department of Statistics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). After my first degree in Mathematics (Mathematics Department, University of Athens, 1988), I read for my M.Sc. in Applied Statistics (St. Peter’s College and Department of Statistics, University of Oxford, 1989). I completed my D.Phil in Statistics in 1993 (Department of Statistics, University of Oxford). My first position was in the Department of Psychology, University of Crete (1994-1998) and from 1999 up to now in the Department of Statistics, AUEB. I served as Director of Postgraduate Studies in the Department of Statistics (2013-2016), as Head of the Department of Statistics (2016-2020) and as Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs and Personnel (2020-2024). Currently I serve as the Rector of AUEB. My research interests are in discrete and continuous multivariate longitudinal data, in latent variable modeling, in inference using composite likelihoods and in the analysis of controlled clinical trials.
